Four lenses. One frame.

Every Aero Sphere frame takes any lens in the ladder. Lite is in the frame as standard. Air, Pro and Max are cut and fitted to your frame to order, which is why they take a few days and why they cannot come back once cut.

The frame decides how it looks and how it fits. The lens decides what you see. This page is about the second part.

Lite

The honest starting point

Polycarbonate. Light, tough and genuinely good, and the lens every frame ships with. It is also the lens we tell people to buy first, because a Lite pair can come back inside 14 days if the frame doesn't suit you. Nothing else in the range can.

  • Impact resistant, which is why polycarbonate is the material used in safety eyewear
  • Hard coat and anti-reflective coating as standard
  • Not polarised. That is the one thing the upgrades add that this doesn't have.
  • Returnable within 14 days if the fit is wrong

Air

Thinner, lighter, all day

A high-index CR-39 lens. The higher index lets the same lens be made thinner and lighter, which is what you notice at hour ten rather than hour one. Polarised, so glare off water, tarmac and glass simply stops arriving.

Optical clarity first

CR-39 at standard index, and the clearest lens we make. An Abbe value of 59 is about as low-dispersion as an optical polymer gets, which in plain terms means clarity that holds all the way to the edge of the lens instead of fringing at the periphery. Around half the weight of crown glass, with none of the risk.

Max

Armour you can see through

Trivex. The material was developed for fighter jet and helicopter windscreens before anybody thought to put it in front of a face, and it is the only lens in the range that gives you clarity and impact resistance without trading one against the other. If the day involves speed, water, or the possibility of something arriving at your eye uninvited, this is the one.

Reading the numbers

Refractive index is how strongly the material bends light. The higher the number, the thinner the lens can be for the same job. It is a materials figure, not a quality score.

Abbe value measures dispersion. High Abbe means clean, neutral vision to the edge. Low Abbe means colour fringing at the periphery.

Specific gravity is how heavy the material is for its size. Lower is lighter on your face.
