The Wingman Warranty
Version 2.4 · Effective 23 July 2026 · Supersedes all prior warranty statements
A wingman doesn't leave
You didn't buy eyewear. You bought optics you intend to rely on. In a cockpit, on a ridgeline, at 200km/h, or across a fourteen-hour working day.
Kit you rely on needs cover behind it. Wingman is that cover.
Every Aero Sphere frame is warranted for life against defects in materials and manufacture. Every lens carries its own term. And when something goes wrong that isn't our fault, we'd rather get you flying again than sell you a whole new pair.

Specifically included
We've had these arguments before, so let's settle them in advance. Wingman covers:
- Hinge failure, screw thread stripping and temple-arm fracture under normal use
- Frame cracking at stress points not caused by impact
- Delamination, crazing or clouding of lens coatings
- Polarisation film separation or bubbling
- A lens that will not stay seated in a sound frame
- Nose pad or temple tip adhesive failure, where the frame carries them
- Print, logo or finish lifting from the frame
- Anything else that is clearly a fault in how the product was made rather than how it was used
Not certain which side of the line you're on? Ask us. We'd rather look at photographs than have you assume the answer is no.
Service Life: how "lifetime" works
Lifetime does not mean the product is immortal, and no honest brand can promise that it is. It means we stand behind the product for as long as it can reasonably be expected to do the job it was built for.
Service Life is the working life of an Aero Sphere product under normal use, cleaned and stored as directed. Polycarbonate and nylon frames flex. Hinges cycle. Coatings abrade. UV degrades polymer over years. That's physics, not a fault.
When we assess a claim we look at four things. The product and its tier. How and how often it was used. The specific failure in front of us. The age of the item.
A hinge that fails at eight months on a desk-worn pair is a defect. The same hinge at six years on a daily-worn Flightline Max that's lived in a flight bag is Service Life.
We may ask you about a product's history. Where we can't establish it, we may not be able to reach a determination. Where the case is genuinely borderline, we find in your favour.
At the end of Service Life a product isn't rubbish. Talk to us about Hard Landing below, and send the old frame back for material recovery.
What Wingman does not cover
Gear takes punishment. Some of that punishment isn't a manufacturing defect, and pretending otherwise would mean charging every customer for the few. Wingman excludes:
Impact and accidental damage
- Crushing, sitting on, dropping, or driving over your eyewear
- Crash, fall or collision damage
- Damage taken outside the product's intended use
See Hard Landing. We have an answer for this.
Scratched lenses
Abrasion from sand, grit, dust or contact is not a defect. It's the lens doing its job in front of your eye instead of the alternative. Coating failure is different, and it is covered. If you can't tell which you're looking at, send us photographs and we will.
Incorrect care
- Cleaning with alcohol, acetone, ammonia, solvents, household detergents or dish soap
- Dry-wiping dusty lenses, which grinds the grit across the coating
- Leaving eyewear on a car dashboard, in a closed vehicle, or in direct sun. Heat deforms frames and lifts coatings.
- Storing eyewear loose in a bag, pocket or glovebox without the case
- Wearing eyewear pushed up on the head, which springs temple arms permanently
The Product Care page sets out what we do expect, and it takes two minutes to read.
Modification and third-party work
- Lenses fitted by anyone other than Aero Sphere or an authorised partner
- Frames heated, bent, drilled, resprayed or otherwise altered
- Non-Aero Sphere replacement parts
Normal wear
- Nose pad and temple tip compression over time
- Finish wear at contact points
- General cosmetic ageing
Loss and theft
We can't warrant something we can't examine. If it's gone, talk to us about Hard Landing.
Hard Landing: replacement when it isn't our fault
Most brands stop at the word "excluded". We think that's where the relationship starts.
If your Aero Sphere eyewear is damaged beyond repair by something Wingman doesn't cover, and you crashed, or it got crushed, or you reversed over it, send it back. We'll replace it at 25% off the current retail price of the same or equivalent model.
- Once per product. This is a hand up, not a subscription.
- The damaged item must come back to us. We recover what we can and recycle the rest.
- Available for the lifetime of the product line.
- Doesn't apply to items already replaced under Wingman.
Making a claim
1. Open the claim
Email support@aerospherevision.com, or WhatsApp +27 74 123 5069 if you're in South Africa. Send:
- Your order number, or an invoice. Printed or electronic, ours or an authorised partner's.
- Clear photographs of the whole product and close-ups of the failure
- What happened, and when you first noticed it
- How the product has been cleaned and stored
Photographs resolve most claims without the product leaving your hands. Send them first.
2. We assess
We respond within one working day, Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 16:00 South African time. Where we need the product in hand we'll issue a Wingman Reference (WGM-XXXXX) and return instructions.
3. We resolve
| Outcome | What happens |
|---|---|
| Repairable | We repair and return, usually within 10 working days of receipt. If it will take longer, we tell you why and when. |
| Not repairable, in stock | We replace with the same model. |
| Not repairable, discontinued | We replace with the closest current equivalent, agreed with you before we ship it. |
| Not covered | We tell you why, in writing, and offer a Hard Landing quote. |
Who pays for what
| Situation | Shipping to us | Shipping back | Product cost |
|---|---|---|---|

| Defect confirmed, after 6 months | Customer, R110 by courier | Aero Sphere | Nil |
| Assessed and not a defect | Customer | Customer | Quoted before any work |
| Hard Landing replacement | Customer | Aero Sphere | 25% off retail |
Replacements issued under Wingman carry the remainder of the original product's term, not a fresh one. Where the replacement is a different model, a new term starts. Replacements are not eligible for change-of-mind return or exchange. That does not affect your statutory rights if the replacement itself is defective.
Bought from a partner store
Wingman travels with the product, not the receipt. Buy from any authorised Aero Sphere partner and you're covered on identical terms. We just need the partner's invoice.
Eyewear bought from unauthorised sellers, marketplace resellers or private sales is not covered. If you're unsure whether a seller is authorised, ask us before you buy.
Your rights under South African law
Wingman is given in addition to your rights under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002. Nothing here limits, replaces or excludes those rights.
The CPA gives you the right to goods that are of good quality, in good working order and free of defects, and the right to return goods that fail that standard within six months of delivery for repair, replacement or refund, at our risk and expense. Wingman extends well beyond that period. It does not shorten it.
Returns and cooling-off rights are set out in the Returns & Exchanges policy.
